TechTAS

Technology Talent Admission Scheme (TechTAS)

A specialized employment route connected to eligible technology companies, allotted quotas and research and development roles.

TechTAS

Technology Talent Admission Scheme

Unlike a general employment visa, TechTAS normally requires the employer to fall within the scheme and obtain a relevant quota first. Immigration still assesses each individual application; a quota does not guarantee approval.

Suitable people and roles

  • Professionals hired by an eligible company for covered research, development or technology-related work.
  • Applicants able to show relevant STEM education, technical capability or industry experience matching the role.

Employer, quota and individual application

  • The employer’s scheme eligibility and allotted quota are important prerequisites and should be confirmed first.
  • The applicant still submits personal education, experience, role and other evidence for Immigration Department assessment.

Relationship with general employment routes

  • Falling outside TechTAS does not necessarily prevent employment admission; GEP or ASMTP may be more suitable.
  • Route selection should start with the applicant’s circumstances, employer eligibility, role and available quota.

Extensions and permanent residence path

  • Extension normally considers actual employment, the role and conditions of stay, not only the original quota.
  • A separate permanent resident verification may be made after meeting statutory requirements such as continuous ordinary residence.
