IANG helps non-local graduates stay or return to Hong Kong for employment. Recent graduates usually have a more flexible application path, while non-recent graduates generally need an offer from a Hong Kong employer and must show that the role and remuneration meet the relevant standard.

Assessment route / category
- Recent graduates usually enjoy more flexible application arrangements.
- Non-recent graduates usually need to have secured employment with a Hong Kong employer.
- The job should normally be at a level commonly taken up by degree holders, with remuneration at market level.
Stay arrangement after approval
- Successful applicants are usually first granted 24 months of stay.
- After approval, applicants may usually work and change jobs without applying again for each employer change.
- Eligible dependants may accompany the applicant.
Extension direction
- Extensions usually require evidence of secured employment in Hong Kong.
- Applicants who have established or joined a business in Hong Kong may also support an extension with business evidence.
- IANG extensions commonly follow a 3-year plus 3-year pattern.
- After ordinarily residing in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than 7 years, an applicant may apply for Hong Kong permanent resident status according to law.
